new things

Today I did two things I thought I would never do:

1) I went to the mall and bought a pair of pink sweatpants. Yes, for myself.

2) I won not one, but two (at the same time), stuffed dolls from a claw vending machine on the way home from the mall.

This blog has sat long neglected mostly because I've been too lazy/busy to update, but that, my friends, will change! You'll notice that I've been sprucing up the blog a little bit and changing some things (more to come), and eventually I'll be moving the blog over to CUT+PASTE server. [Edit: it's been moved to www.cutxpaste.com/istanbul, but you can still view it here.]

My holidays in Istanbul (actually my first holidays not in the states) was great and actually pretty festively filled with tree, gifts, food and all. New Year's came and went and I spent it with Samet's family (though we missed the actually countdown because we were too busy flipping channels to find a good station). I didn't make many New Year's resolutions...just a couple I thought I might stick by like: answering emails in a timely manner (I'm almost getting through to the unanswered ones from 2003!), updating the site more often (including blogging) and taking more pictures (hasn't happened yet). I would love to buy a new digital camera, but I'm waiting for them to come out with a pocket sized digital SLR camera. If I could implant it into my eye and download it to my computer with my finger, that would be even better. It will have to wait until the future can catch up with my mind.

These days, as we approach mid-Jan, I've been on the computer more trying to play catch up and clean up after the hard drive on the CUT+PASTE server died. It's been fine and not much was lost (thank you back ups!) except my blog on the site won't work right now. Eventually when it does (I have not given up hope!), I'll move all this over to the same system. I've also been playing with our new Playstation 2 (yes, in the year when the wii and PS3 came out, we got a PS2), feigning even more that I don't understand any Turkish, eating more, and planning more (with the hopes that it will result in doing more).
